it’s national donut day so for fun little one and i baked together! i’ve never made donuts but the Delightful Adventure’s recipe looked simple. the original recipe used coconut, which little one is allergic to so we replaced a few ingredients.the result is a tender sweet (but not too sweet) chocolatey donuts that was fun to make with the little one! this will definitely be a repeat recipe!
- donut baking pan
- 1 tbsp ground flax seeds
- 3 Tbsp water
- ¾ cup gluten free flour (i.e. Bob’s Red Mill)
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ cup skim milk
- 3 tbsp canola oil
- 1 tsp vanilla
preheat oven to 375°F. grease your doughnut pan (if needed).
prepare your flax egg by whisking together ground flax seeds and water. set aside to thicken.
in a large bowl, whisk the flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. add the milk, oil, vanilla, and flax mixture into dry ingredients and mix well to combine.
spoon the mixture into each cavity of the donut pan.
bake for 10 minutes.
remove from oven and let the pan sit for a few minutes before removing the doughnuts. remove the doughnuts from the pan and place on a cooling rack.
