self-feeding: starting the fork

k started to feed herself with the feeding spoon, though not entirely independently yet. we scoop the food and she holds the spoon with food into her mouth, takes it out and hands the spoon back to us herself.

we didn’t start thinking about the next step of self-feeding yet. but as k’s daycare was growing in number of students, they thought the toddlers could learn to eat some of their meals independently with a fork.

thinking about it, it would probably be easier to teach k how to stab at food on a plate independently than to scoop food from a bowl. i am a creature of habit so i looked at OXO’s brand and found a set of toddler utensils. i did some research and looked at other brands but didn’t find anything particularly better about the other brands so i chose OXO. why mess with a good thing?
